FLOWERS CREATED WITH SCANNER

I would like to share again with you my experience with scanner. I learn how to did it seeing the gorgeous scanned flowers by the talented artist Katinka Matson . She creates gorgeous flowers images by utilizing flatbed scanner.

Stapelia gigantea (Carrion Flower)

Stapelias are strange succulent plants native to the deserts of South Africa. The extremely large, starfish-shaped flowers of Stapelia gigantea are pale yellow with reddish tripes. The flowers give off a pestilent smell that attracts flies. As they buzz from flower to flower, flies collect pollen and transport it to the next plant, thereby ensuring the successful pollination of this species. The flower’s putrid smell and hairy, leathery texture mimic the rotting flesh of a dead animal.

How to do: First you put the flower over the scanner's glass. The flower must be face down. Next you arrange the flower as you like. Then cover the flower gently with a black fabric, very dense, (all the scanner's superficies). Don't shut the scanner's cover, if you do this, you may crumple the flower. Then turn on the scanner. Next you can save the image in some file you choose. The interesting in this process is the unexpected: we don't know exactly how the flower will show up. It's an amazing surprise!

Ligue o scanner. Em seguida salve a imagem escaneada. O interessante neste processo é o inesperado, nunca sabemos bem como a imagem vai ficar. É sempre uma incrível surpresa!

WELCOME - BEM-VINDOS TO ECOLOGICAL DAY

Photos taken by myself in my garden.

This is Coral fungi, Pycnoporus sanguineus. It is a poisonous pan-tropical white-rot fungus that recycles lignin. Its unique color helps identifying it. It often decaying logs in exposed places in the forest.

A fungus is a eukaryotic organism that is a member of the kingdom Fungi. The fungal kingdom has been estimated to contain about 1.5 million species. Fungi were once classified as plants. However, today they are placed in their own kingdom, somewhere "between" plants and animals, but most closely related to the latter. Ocurring worldwide, most fungi are largely invisible to the naked eye, living for the most part in soil, dead matter, and as symbionts of plants, animals, or other fungi. They perform an essential role in all ecosystems in decomposing organic and are indispensable in nutrient cycling and exchange. Many fungal species have long been used as a direct source of food, such as mushrooms and truffles and in fermentation of various food products, such as wine, beer and soy sauce. Fungi are being used as sources for antibiotics used in medicine, such as penicillin. Several species of the fungi are significant pathogens of humans and other animals. Some of the best known types of fungi are the edible and the poisonous mushrooms. Many mushroom species are toxic to humans, with toxicities ranging from slight digestive problems or allergic reactions as well as hallucinations to severe organ failures and death. (Wikipedia)

The Shaw's Collection

At the starting line were Brian and Bev, Paul and Delia, Thelma and Bud Semadeni and myself, from the Ford Club. Bud's Prefect was the only Club car out that day, mine having broken a rear axle the previous day, and Paul's with the motor out getting valve and cylinder head improvements, although their immaculate Cortina was again there.

However there were plenty of Fords 8's and 10's at our destination the Shaw brother's awesome car collection at Coatsville. I combined the Model A club with ours and did not extend the trip beyond there, having learnt that the enthusiast can spend hours looking which proved true.

I saw early 7Y Anglia's: a two door and four door C, a two door Y, Prefects including complete and incomplete 38-39 Ford 10's (7W) and a '50's Popular with its tiny headlights in original light blue colour. The only marque I did not see was the square–grilled EO4A Anglia.

There ware also Model A's, three 36-39 Ford V8 sedans and a row of 60's Holden's and 70's utes,  many Chev's from the 20's and early 50's many Buicks prewar and post war, all the Austin 7 models, a big Seven and a couple of Ten's prewar Morris 8 and square Minor.

Other makes such as Vauxhall, Dodge, Rugby, and Citroen were represented in smaller numbers. There were old trucks large and small as well so there was something for everyone (except the ladies, maybe!)

Many thanks to Noel and Trevor for their hospitality and I will be carrying the images around in my head for some time to come. Now it's back down to earth and the axle replacement for my "Y" plus a few other improvements and modification while the car is on blocks.

Thanks to the Model "A" Club Members who attended.

Harvey.

REFLECTION AND SKY

Photos taken by Fernando A. Mascaro

My son Fernando went in Abril, 2007 to join an International Conventions & Exhibitions of fruits in Cesena, Italy. Cesena is a city in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy, south of Ravenna and west of Rimini, on the Savio River, co-chief of the Province of Forlì-Cesena. It is at the foot of the Apennines, and about 15 km from the Adriatic Sea. Here you see some photos he took in a trip by train from Cesena to Milano Maritima.

Lamborghini Murciélago (AUTOart)

The Lamborghini Murciélago is a high performance sports car produced by Italian automaker Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. and designed by Luc Donckerwolke. It was introduced in 2001 as the successor to the Diablo. The Murciélago is a two-door, two-seat coupé. To celebrate the company's 40 years in operation, 50 special edition Murciélagos were built during the autumn of 2003. An open-top version called the Murciélago Roadster was introduced in 2004 for the 2005 model year. The roadster features similar performance to the coupé with a more aggressive rear flank, as well as a considerably higher price tag. The Murciélago sports a 6.2-litre version of the Lamborghini V12, 580bhp engine, a six-speed manual or six-speed sequential automatic transmission, and four-wheel drive. It also has a rear spoiler that can be raised to an angle of 70 degrees, side mirrors that fold in to improve aerodynamics, and side scoops that automatically open to the needed size to let in just the right amount of air needed to cool its engine. The 2008 car's fuel economy is 8 miles per US gallon (3.4 km/l/9.6 mpg-imp) city and 13 miles per US gallon (5.5 km/l/16 mpg-imp) freeway, making it the least efficient 2008 car for city and highway driving, according to the EPA. In 2006 the Murciélago's engine was replaced by a stronger 6.5-liter engine and the car's name was changed to Murciélago LP640. For the 2007 model year Lamborghini did the same with the roadster model, which is now called Murciélago LP640 Roadster. Both versions received a minor facelift. The name Murciélago (pronounced moor-cee-EH-la-goh in traditional Castilian Spanish and moor-see-EH-la-goh in Spanish of Latin America) means "bat" in Spanish. A bull by this name survived 24 sword strokes in an 1879 fight at the arena of Córdoba, and fought with such passion and spirit that the matador chose to spare its life, a rare honor. In another Lamborghini tie-in, the bull was later presented as a gift to Don Antonio Miura, who was a noted breeder and whose bull ranch the Lamborghini Miura was named after, and went on to sire a line of famous fighting bulls.

Additional detail:

- installed high tension wires

- installed some hoses

- installed chrome belt holders for the injectors

- repianted some engine parts

- added door lock mechanisms
