Tantangan ini di jawab Toyota Inggris dengan melakukan tes real-world. Melintasi kota-kota di Ingris dengan menghormati segala aturan yang berlaku. Bukan dilakukan di jalan tol yang datar, kecepatan konstan, tanpa AC, tanpa kelengkapan elektrik yang biasa dilakukan pemiliki merk untuk menunjukkan betapa irit mobilnya..

Tangki bahan bakar Toyota iQ bisa menampung 8.5gallon (32.2liter). Rutenya melintasi 18 kota, termasuk melewati tengah kota dengan tipe lalulintas stop-and-go, lampu merah dan lainnya. Toyota iQ juga melewati jalan tol yang menuntut mobil melaju dengan kecepatan tinggi. Sehingga Toyota iQ tidak bisa memanfaatkan keuntungan bergerak dengan kecepatan rendah yang lebih irit bahan bakar. Penguji juga menyalakan lampu depan untuk safety dan peralatan elektronik lainnya seperti satelit navigasi untuk menemukan lokasi tertentu.

Hasilnya, Toyota iQ menempuh 504.2 mil (806.72km) dengan satu tangki bahan bakar, Lebih jauh dari perkiraan semula, 460mil (736km). Berarti rata-rata konsumsinya 59.42mpg (sekitar 1liter untuk 25.26km). Padahal otoritas transportasi Inggris menetapkan efisieni Toyota iQ adalah 66.7 mpg imperial (1:23.6 liter/km). Dengan teknologi stop-start (mesin otomatis mati saat idle, dan langsung hidup saat pedal gas ditekan), tingkat efisiensinya pasti lebih baik lagi.

TOYOTA PRIUS MODEL 2009 YANG PALING IRIT

Toyota Prius model 2009 dinobatkan sebagai mobil paling hemat bahan bakar oleh Environment Protection Agency (EPA) Amerika Serikat. Prius mengonsumsi sekira 21,3 km/liter di perkotaan.

Seperti diberitakan situs Edmunds, konsumsi bahan bakar di jalan bebas hambatan sekitar 20 km/liter. Mobil hybrid seperti Prius memang lebih hemat di jalan perkotaan. Ini dikarenakan, dalam kecepatan rendah (di bawah 30 km/jam), mobil digerakkan dengan motor listrik bukan mesin bakar konvensional.

Selain itu mobil model 2009 Lamborghini Murcielago merupakan mobil paling boros dengan konsumsi 3,5 km/liter di kota dan 6,2 km/liter di jalan bebas hambatan.

Mobil-mobil hybrid dan pendatang baru Mercdes Smart ForTwo mendomonasi perolehan rating tertinggi mobil paling irit. Berikut 5 mobil paling irit yang dipasarkan di Amerika Serikat: (konsumsi bahan bakar kota/jalan bebas hambatan dalam km/liter)

Pengujian ini dilakukan tak lepas dari program pemerintah yang akan memberikan potongan pajak bagi pembelian mobil-mobil hybrid dan diesel sebesar USD3.400 dan bahan bakar alternatif seperti gas sebesar USD4.000 (USD1 = Rp10.000). Saat ini mobil penumpang yang sudah menggunakan bahan bakar compressed natural gas (CNG) adalah Honda Civic. Mobil ini membutuhkan dana sebesar USD1.366 setiap tahun untuk bahan bakar dengan asumsi penggunaan sejauh 30.000 km.

EPA menandaskan hasil ini akan dijadikan patokan untuk konsumen yang akan membeli mobil keluaran terbaru. EPA merupakan lembaga milik pemerintah AS yang salah satu tugasnya mengadakan pengujian konsumsi bahan bakar terhadap mobil-mobil baru yang akan dipasarkan di AS.

Save Cash On Gas And Other Items
I have been engaged in a little bit of digging on the different methods to save cash and have discovered numerous valid ideas amongst those that are not so good.
Ideas that are not so good are those that are unrealistic ("pay off your credit cards now and save interest" which you would (have done|do} if you could), corny (coupons and rebates and irritating garbage like that) and too much of a sacrifice (take public transportation, etc)

So, here are a few worthwhile ones.

1. SAVE MONEY ON GROCERIES

There are useful things you can do to keep from wasting money on food that will perish or that you will never eat. For starters, never go grocery shopping when you are famished! Also, have a list so you don't "impulse buy" yourself into insolvency. Other recommendations are to have a budget and at least attempt to come close (it's like the tv game show "The Price Is Right" - if you go over you lose!), opt for store brands instead of brand name - it's really the same toothpaste, learn to drink water and never from the tap, and, most important, leave the childrenhome with your spouse when you go grocery shopping for gawd's sake!

2. OPTIMIZE YOUR GASOLINE CONSUMPTION

A. Here is one that will surprise you...Roll up windows on highway. While "everybody" assume they're saving money by turning off the air-conditioner, it actually creates a strong drag if you are driving fast with the windows down, and is worse for your fuel economy. So, City Driving=windows down and A/C off and Highway Driving=windows up and A/C on.

B. Don't buy hot gas and do park in the shade. Try to get fuel when it is cool (morning or evening) so the gasoline is thicker and won't evaporate as easily. And parking in the sun will cause gas to evaporate also.

C. Try to avoid rush hour. Of course no one wants to go onto the 405 freeway and sit in a parking lot there. There is actually a reason why they refer to the driveway as the driveway and the parkway as the parkway!! But realize that as much as it is harmful to your internal thermostat it is also bad for your gas economy.

D. Work at home - It's good for the economy, it's good for traffic,it's good for the family, it's good in a lot of ways and many people are following this new trend. If you can arrange to get a job where you can work from home, do it! You will be happier, feel freer and more independent, and economize on fuel (and also on food as you are more likely tograb some fast food, waste money and get fat if you are working in an office than if you work at home)
